I do not like the term "cellulitis", especially with young people. We are really talking about a child who is likely overweight and does very little exercise. A lifestyle change is something to be recommended.
Cellulitis in children is usually caused by a traumatic event to the child's body. The event may not always be so dramatic that the child remembers the event itself.
Cellulitis is usually due to bacteria - Staphylococcus or Streptococcus. It can start off as a small boil or pustule or even due to a wound that gets infected. It can then spread to deeper parts if untreated.
