Freckles and moles are caused by deposits of natural pigment in the skin. Freckles and moles can be present at birth and can form throughout a person's life, usually in response to exposure to the sun. Freckles are rarely a cause for concern, while some moles can be malignant (cancerous).

Freckles and moles, their number and intensity of pigment are pre-determined by skin tone. Exposure to UV rays will cause fair people to develop more freckles than if they used a sunscreen. While freckles and moles are normal, irregularly shaped moles should be evaluated by a doctor or dermatologist to rule out skin cancer.

Freckles and moles are due to a person's amount of melanin (I think that is how you spell it). Those people having less melanin in their skin often times have more freckles and moles. Those people who have more melanin are often the really tan people you see around.

Generally, too much sun will give you more moles. Certain people can be more likely to develop moles and freckles than others. Especially redheads in particular can have very spotted skin.

People gain freckles and all types of spots on their skin by being exposed to the sun. The sun affects the pigment in your skin, and if you remain in direct sunlight for too long, it will cause these small brown spots to appear anywhere that is exposed on your body.

Freckles and moles are benign growths and pretty much just come from genetics. It's really not known why moles appear and fall off.

Freckles and moles are typically attributed to genetics; some people may freckle after sun exposure. Raised moles can appear after childbirth due to hormonal changes. Some moles can be cancerous.
