Vestibular disease can be neurological or it can be the result of an inner ear problem impacting the balance center. The symptoms can appear similar to motion sickness with dizziness and nausea. Dogs and cats with this problem frequently have a rapid back and forth movement of the eyes.

Vestibular disease is a name for any disorder that affects the balance system of the inner ear. Our vestibular system provides information to our brains on where our bodies are in space. Vestibular disease can cause mild symptoms of unsteadiness or severe/disabling symptoms of vertigo and nausea. Dizziness can also be caused by problems not involving the inner ear.
