The Disabilities Act is a civil rights act that essentially provides protection for disabled Amerians so that they cannot be discriminated against with regard to employment. It was created in 1990 and has been amended since. It is lengthy and of course written in legalese. If you Google "disabilities act," you'll find several good sites that explain it further.

This act was created so Americans with disabilites are not discriminated against. An example would be most public buildings are required to have access ramp for citizens in wheel chairs. Also banks are required to have ATM machines with Braille for the blind. Also designated parking spaces for the handicapped.

This act protects people with disabilities from being discriminated in jobs, housing, service and healthcare. Under this act, it is a violation to discriminate against the disabled for any reason.
