What can you tell me about taking phenazopryridine while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Phenazopryridine is used to alleviate symptoms of a urinary infection.Tell your doctor you are pregnant before taking this drug. As a classified Category B drug Phenazopryridine not expected to be harmful to a growing fetus. It is not known if this drug can pass thru a breastfeeding mother's milk.

DO NOT take any medications during your pregnancy without consulting with your OBGYN first! If you are breastfeeding, you must still talk to your doctor about it.

Phenazopyridine is a FDA pregnancy category B drug and isn't expected to be harmful to a fetus. It isn't known whether it can pass into breastmilk.
