First, Pluto is no longer considered to be a legitimate planet but has been demoted to a dwarf planet. This is because it is considerably smaller than the other planets and actually is smaller than some other orbiting bodies circling the sun. As it is so far away from the sun it is extremely cold and icy with little atmosphere.

Pluto is now considered a dwarf planet because of it's small size. It is believed that Pluto was once a comet or debris that got caught in the pull of the sun. Pluto is an icy planet. Pluto has one moon named Charon. Pluto is named after the Roman god of the Dead.

Pluto is no longer considered a planet, due to its small size: its volume is less than a third compared to Earth's satellite, the Moon.
