Adderall & Focalin are both C-II medications, but Adderall is a stronger CNS stimulant than Focalin. Adderall is an amphetamine. Focalin is the brand name for the drug dexmethylphenidate. Focalin is a "pure" version of Ritalin (methylphenidate), containing only the active isomer. Adderall & Focalin both last for a duration of 4-6 hours (3-4 hours for some users).

Both Adderall and Focalin are used to treat ADD and ADHD. Both medications contain stimulants. Adderall is a combination of 2 stimulants and is also used to treat narcolepsy. Both have similar side effects. Only a physician can explain which drug is best for the patient and why.

Adderall contains 75% of the effective (dextro) isomers of amphetamine. It is very effective and has very few side-effects. Overall patient feedback on this product is good. Focalin contains dextro-methylphenidate and is not generally recommended. It has no advantages over over medications with a longer safety record. Overall patient feedback on this product varies.
