You can make sumac lemonade. Use one quart sumac berries, one gallon water, cheese cloth or drip coffee filter. Maple Syrup, cinnamon and cloves options. Rinse seedhead, drain on a towel, put seeds and spices in water. Set in sun for one to two hours. Remove berries and strain liquid through cheese cloth or coffee filters.

Sumac berries can be used to make a cool beverage by letting about a handful of berries sit overnight in two cups of water. After straining, add your favorite sweetener. They can also be used in floral arrangements. White sumac berries are poisonous, the red berries are not.

Sumac berries provide a delicious and refreshing summer drink. This drink is sometimes referred to as sumac-ade, rhus-ade, sumac lemonade. To make sumac lemonade, cut off a few heads of the berries, and soak them in half a gallon of water. Strain them through a strainer and sweeten to your own taste.

They can be used as decoration if there is no one sensitive to sumac. I would not suggest eating them or leaving them around for children or animals to eat. I have not seen too many things done with them due to those with sensitivities.

You can take the whole sumac berry bunches and submerge them into water. I suggest using a large mason jar. You put the water and berry mixture into the sun for a whole day. Add sugar if you like, the berries have a sorta bitter taste. This is called Sumac tea, but it tastes like lemonade.

Sumac berries can be used to make teas and other drinks, or they can be used as a marinade or sauce. Sumac's red berries are also edible raw, so they are useful when you are out in the woods - if you know what to look for. They have an acidic taste, similar to lemons.
