It sounds like your cat might have an upper respiratory infection. Your vet can prescribe antibiotics to help it go away, but in the meantime you can make your cat more comfortable by steaming up the bathroom and putting him in there to help clear his nose out. Make sure he eats and drinks plenty.

If there are other symptoms, like discharge (from nose, mouth, eyes) lethargy or lack of appetite - take to vet as it's probably a respiratory infection, needing antibiotics. However if it's chronic, try to keep the air moist (use a humidifier) and offer fish oil. A saline spray might help.

Check your cat's environment for excess dust, dander, or other potential allergens. Let your cat out or open a window for fresh air.

Well first I would see if there is any obsturction in it's throat. If that fails watch the cat to see if there is a change in it's daily behavior and breathing. Bring him to a vet.

My suggestion would be too take it to the vet. It's the only thing you really can do for a cat that is sick.

Your cat might have an allergy to something in your home. I would suggest dusting and vacuuming pretty well. Also a change in diet can do this as well.
