Several symptoms of the canine cold are coughing, sneezing, running eyes and nose, an abnormally dry nose, sleeping more than usual, and loss of interest in food and water. However many things can be mistaken for a cold such as; parainfluenza, adenovirus type-2, kennel cough, and canine distemper. I would recommend going to the vet. if it gets any worse.

Coughing, sneezing, runny nose (clear is usually viral while thick yellow/green is more cause for conern). Similar to a human. Dogs can get an array of viruses that make them sick, and most are contagious.See a vet and isolate your dog away from other dogs until all symptoms are resolved.

I am not a veterinarian and so I can only speak from experience. Whenever my dog has been sick the first signs are a dry nose, cold ears and lack of appetite.

Dogs canget viruses that cause symptoms similar to a human cold. Deadly distemper, the serious canine influenza and the more common viral infection called kennel cough could be the problems. Distemper is prevented by vaccination. Kennel cough can be caught from other dogs - no kennel needed!
