If your pump is tripping the breaker, it means it's pulling too much power. Make sure the circuit isn't being shared with a surging device, such as a refrigerator. If it is, put the pool pump on a dedicated circuit or move it to a circuit that just runs lights.

A demand higher than the rated amp load for the breaker in question is the most likely culprit. Other devices, if any, using the same breaker should be moved and the pump given its' own. The amperage rating of the pool motor must also be less than that of the breaker, otherwise a larger capacity breaker needs to be used.

If your pool motor is new, and is tripping your breakers, return it for another model. Otherwise, you may need to replace the motor, or upgrade your breakers. As the motor ages it can drain power and cause electrical problems throughout your home
