What can I do if my cockatiel flew away?

You can do several things if your cockatiel is missing.The first thing to do is tell your friends and family that your bird is missing.Then you should let people in your neighborhood know about your problem so they can help you look.

You should contact your SPCA chapter and bird conservatory organization (if available) immediately. They may have techniques to capture the bird if you provide a vicinity where the bird might be. Because your bird is domesticated it may not have the skills to properly survive, so you should act immediately.

Some cockatiels that have escaped will hang out around their home, especially when they get hungry, so leave the cage open with fresh food and water, in a place it can easily find. Unfortunately, however, it's most likely that it has found another area to call home.

One time I went to pet a cockatiel sitting on a lady friend's shoulder. It flew up in a high tree and then flew out of sight. To my surprise and relief it came back to her after about two or three days. So hope it does the same.

You can pour yourself a drink, pull out pictures of the cockatiel, sit down and think about what a great cockatiel he was for as long as you had him.
