First, rest your shoulder. Avoid actions that exacerbate the pain. Ice can help relief the pain; apply it for about 20 minutes at a time. Unless you have a drug sensitivity, begin an over-the-counter NSAID (nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug) like Naprosyn. If the pain persists, discuss options like physical therapy, cortisone injections, and surgery with your orthopedist.

You first want to decrease inflammation. You can do this by resting your shoulder. You may also try taking anti-inflammatory medicine. Ice is also a good way to decrease inflammation, which will help with the pain.

Do not use the affected shoulder (or limit use as much as possible. ) Avoid all repetative movements and heavy lifting until shoulder is feeling better. Apply heat to shoulder for ten minutes, then cold for ten minutes, repeat at least twice.

First of all I would consult an Orthopedic doctor. Before you get in to see the doctor, ice the shoulder and take advil for inflammation and pain.
