First, drink a lot of water. It's possible that you are dehydrated. Do you live in a dry, arid, area? If you can afford to purchase a humidifier, do so. Alternately, simmer some water on the stove and breathe in the steam. Before going to sleep each night, swab some Vaseline in your nasal passages with a cotton swab.

Dabbing a little petroleum jelly just inside the nostrils gives some temporary relief. Lean over a bowl of hot water with a towel over your head to breathe in the steam. Try to generally up your intake of fluids to aid re-hydration. Strangely, eating chicken soup is beneficial as it contains selenium and nutrients to boost the immune system.

Use a humidifier in your home or turn a vaporizer on at night while you sleep. They sell nasal spray in the store that is supposed to keep your nasal passages moist. Drinking lots of water each day will help as well.
