Before you wash the clothes, you can soak your clothing with some hot water and add lavender oil to it. Make sure to mix the water well.

If you have clothes that have been worn a bit too much and are starting to get a pungent smell to them, it's laundry day. Don't just do a normal wash, allow clothes to soak in with detergent for a few hours and then run a normal wash. Soaking ought to do the trick on even the toughest scents.

There are two approaches you can take. Take them to the dry cleaners being sure to mention the sour smell. Or wash but first soak clothes in a vinegar solution.

I would rewash them in vinegar. Then I would wash again with laundry soap and a light fabric softner. I have done this with towels that I have left in the washer.
