Check to see if there is something restricting the air flow through your cooling coil. The return line to the compressor will be frosted if it is restricted.

Make sure you have the temperature set right. We keep ours set at eighty degrees. It helps if the thermostat works correctly.

Turn off the unit and let it thaw out for 24 hours. When it is dry and completely free of ice, get an HVAC technician to repair it.

If you are referring to the heat dissipating grillwork on the outside compressor, the problem is that you are low on refrigerant. Have it serviced by a professional.

Check your filter(s), including the one that might be under the unit that you cannot see. If your filter is good, call a professional. -Chances are that your coolant is low (that's right, low), and only a qualified technician should 'crack' your system.

Have the Unit serviced by a professional, The coil needs cl;eaning or the pressures are not proper. I dont advise trying to clean the coils yourself they can be damaged easily. Then it gets very expensive to replave the evaporater coil.

Turn your unit off, but turn your fan on. Let the fan run until it melts the ice away and then your unit should be good to go.
