What can cause jaw swelling?

Jaw swelling could be caused from an abcessed or infected tooth. Another frequent cause of jaw swelling could possibly be TMJ.

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) is very common. If the swelling is closer to your neck you might want to get your thyroid gland checked out by a doctor.

An abcessed or bad tooth can make your jaw swell and sometimes without much pain. On occassion TMJ can cause jaw swelling also.

Most common causes can be related to the inner gums and teeth. Many people can have jaw pain and swelling associated with TMJ. Some of the most common causes of swelling can be impacted or infected wisdom teeth.
