What can be wrong if my canine has pimple-like sores on his skin?

Could he actually have acne?

Raised, reddened lumps, often with a visible head, on your pets skin are commonly pustules. These are akin to pimples. They are often due to an immature immune system. These pustules can be itchy, red, and occasionally sore, especially if they become ulcerated.

Some dogs have flea allergy dermatitis which make them hypersensitive to the saliva from a flea after it bites them, causing inflammation and irritation to their skin.

It's probably not acne, it sounds like he might be allergic to something. He could either be allergic to something that his skin has made contact with, like a plant or if you've used a new shampoo or something, or it could be a food allergy. Some dogs are allergic to certain ingredients in dog food.
