When a cavity is filled up, there is altered taste in mouth for at least one week. But as the time passes your body gets used to the foreign metal planted in your teeth as a crown or filling. You need not worry about altered taste sensation. It will go away automatically in a few days.

The taste is probably and indication that something is not right with that tooth. It could be as simple as flossing out any thing that is sitting under the gumline. It could also be a sign of gum disease.

Nothing really. It would be unusual for the taste to last more than a couple days. Maybe you should see the dentist who placed it to make sure everything is ok.

To cover up the taste of a new filling, you should drink a lot of water, and then eat something if there is no pain. The taste of the new filling should go away in a few hours.
