What can be done for a water line leak?

A quick fix, if you can get to the line, would be plumber's putty and lots of plumber's tape. A long term fix would be to remove the section of the water line that is broken and replace it, assuming the rest of the line is salvageable. Big jobs - call the plumber!

If the leak is in a PVC or CPVC pipe, you can cut the leaking or broken part out, replace it with an new section of pipe and two sleeves. If it's in an elbow, replace the elbow.
