Talk to a financial planner about the various options available for setting up a college fund. There are several, but the economic forecast must play a major role in your choices. A professional can offer the best guidance.

Bonds are very safe but stocks are a higher returner. Check out some dividend paying stocks. They should give you great returns when your daughter is ready for college.

My parents bought me U. S. Savings Bonds when I was a baby and a small child. I would recommend that. This way you can not sell them early and you are forced to keep them. The bonds my parents bought me doubled in value from when they bought them and I can say that it was very helpful.

You want to aim for long-range, extra safe bonds that are sure to increase and unlikely to be any risk.
