Waxworms that result from the wax moth (Pyralidae) are caterpillars. The caterpillars have white bodies, black feet, and tiny, black heads. They live in bee nest and eat pollen and chew beeswax. That is how they got their name. Wax worms are used in pet food, due to the high content of fat, and are also used as fish bait.
