Hypothyroidism is when your thyroid functions too slowly. Symptoms of this include fatigue and weight gain. Hyperthyroidism is when your thyroid functions too quickly. You may lose weight.

There are two main types of thyroid problems, either hypo (under producing) or hyper (over producing). In hyper, rapid weight loss, increased energy, insomnia and overly smooth hair are common. Hypo is pretty much the opposite.

Sometimes the symptom is nothing more than a fever. Occasionally you might have pain in your ears or your jaw. A rapid heartbeat can also be a sign of thyroid issues as well as rapid loss. Most people will have pain in the thyroid gland itself and it is often enlarged. You need to see your Doctor.

There are many. If you suddenly start gaining large amounts of weight and you can't lose it or if you suddenly start losing weight and can't gain any back those are both signs of thyroid trouble. You need to see the doctor they will test you for both over active and under active thyroid then they treat it.
