If your pet has black or brown bugs on them that jump, he/she has fleas. Ticks are small 8 legged bugs that bite and cause intense itching and some parasitical diseases. They remain attached to the skin for short periods and do not jump.

Depending on what they look like they could be a number of bugs. The first and foremost common is the the Flea. Another, could be a tick. Both are trouble. Good Luck.

Most likely these are simply fleas, but they can also be mites or another parasite. Try flea spray or medicine.
