Melanoma usually starts as a sore that won't heal or a mole that changes in shape, size or color. If not diagnosed early then skin cancer can be quickly fatal.
Any changes in skin should be carefully monitored, as they could be signs of skin cancer. Such changes that one should pay particular attention to include the size and colors of moles and freckles, moles and freckles that open up and bleed, and new moles that form that are shiny.
Some signs to watch for are spots or sores that don't heal for over four weeks, or may continue to itch, scab, crust or bleed. Best to check with doctor
The most common sign of skin cancer is a change in appearance of a mole, particularly moles with "jagged" edges, or non-smooth moles. Other symptom include itchiness, suspicious sores, and bleeding moles.
