The attendants need to help the bride pick out her dress and throw a shower for her. They should also help with setting up and cleaning up the rehearsal dinner and reception.

The duties of bridesmaids include helping the bride get ready and helping her go to the bathroom during the reception. The duty of the groomsmen is too help the groom relax and make sure he get to the alter without getting too drunk first! These jobs are very important to the success of the wedding.

It depends on the attendant's positions. Bridesmaids and Groomsmen exist as help for the couple (assemble favor boxes, address invitations, create ceterpieces, etc). Also, attendants are responsible for their own wedding attire (bridesmaid dress, tux, flower girl dress). Also, attendants spread the word about where the bride and groom are registered.
