The national average is 1500, but the highest possible SAT I score is 2400 (800 on each of the math, reading and writing sections). The SAT Subject tests are each scored out of 800. A good score is usually 1800-2000 and some Ivy league schools look for 2200+.

The SAT has three sections: math, language, and writing. Each section has a maximum score of 800 points. Assuming that you can score perfect on all three sections, you can earn a score of 2,400 points.

The highest SAT score is 2400. It is comprised of 3 sections: the math, the critical reading, and the writing sections. Several years ago they changed the scoring from a max 1600 to the new system.

The highest SAT scores depend on when the test was taken. Older tests did not include an essay section, and on those tests the highest scores would be 800 for math and 800 for reading. Newer tests also include an essay section, worth 800 points.
