What are the good qualities of a glass pan?

My mother hated them but I am not sure why.

Glass, usually Pyrex or Corning Ware takes extreme fluctuations in temperature without breaking. Best though- it conducts heat very evenly, while retaining little itself. You can monitor the cooking, also.

I like the fact that they don't contaminate the foods, for example, when microwaving in plastic, the plastic can actually breakdown on a microscopic level and can be absorbed by the food itself. This can be carcinogenic. They say the same is true for freezing water in plastic bottles.

Glass pans tend to provide much more even cooking than metal pans. You can also see your food through the pan as you cook.

Glass holds a lot of heat, and does not transfer heat at a fast rate. Casseroles are fine in glass, but thin crusted baked goods are hard to achieve.

I think the most fun advantage is that you can see how your food is cooking. More practical advantages are that they are easy to clean and they don't leave any odors. I have had glass pans for years and to be honest I can't think of cooking without them anymore!

They have many advantages because you can actually see the item(s) from all sides and how it's cooking. Another good thing about them is the easy clean up.

Glass pans are good because you can put them safely in the dishwasher. Also, they are easy to transfer from the stove top to the oven or refrigerator.
