Question by  LadyCookie (52)

What are the drugs Lisinopril and Monopril prescribed for?

I found these in my mother's purse, and would like to know if there's something serious she's not telling me about.

Lisinopril is typically used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It can also be used to treat patients who have recently suffered a heart attach or congestive heart failure. Monopril is a ACE inhibitor also used to treat hypertension. It is often prescribed with another hypertension medication, which would explain the Lisinopril you also found.

Both of these are heart medications. Lisinopril is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Monopril is used to treat high blood pressure.

These drugs are prescribed for hypertension (high blood pressure) and renal (kidney-related) conditions. However, you can't know exactly what the prescription is for unless you talk to your mother. Perhaps you could take herr aside and ask her if there are any health problems she'd like to talk about.

I take Lisinopril for my high blood pressure (hypertention) which is very common. Monopril is also used for hypertention. Oher uses are for heart related problems. Be upfront and ask.
