There are light, electron, and probe microscopes. Light microscopes can be used with techniques like bright field and dark field. Electron microscopes are either scanning or transmission.

compound microscope,light microscope,standard microscope,optical microscope,fluorescene microscope,confocal microscope,digital microscope,x-ray microscope. the number of microscopes is not much and thats all i can list. mayb scientist could invent a new microscope in near future.
