What are the different propane tank sizes and under what condition would you use each size?

Tank ranges anywhere in size from the small 30# tanks for gas grills up to 1000# tanks that can be buried. What size you need depends on what equipment and btu ranges of that equipment. Generally if you call a propane company with your makes and models they can tell you over the phone what you need.

You are going to need a decent size tank especially if it is colder than usual. My parents have one that you would use on a grill in Georgia.

That is up to the propane company. They have to go by the amount of bedrooms in the home and they will size your tank up to your house.
