Proportion: the amount of items in a mixture. Example: two eggs for every two cups of flour. Percentage: portion of a whole. The whole is 100. Example: if a whole pie is 100, then eating half leaves 50, or 50 percent. Ratio: a proportion in the lowest common denominator. Two eggs for every two cups of flour= 1:1.

Ratio is the comparison between two quantities of the same unit. Equality of ratios is called proportion. A percentage is a fraction with 100 as denominator. Ratio is always written in its simplest form. In a proportion the product of extremes is equal to product of means. A percent indicates the value out of 100.
