What are the dangers of buying a 1930s house?

Lead paint? Asbestos?

The presence of lead paint is not an inherent danger. It is a danger when ingested when if flakes off and contaminates food and areas where babies and small kids play. Asbestos left intact is not a "danger." Its removal causes it to flake, and small fibers can be inhaled.

Depending on the condition of the home and how much work has been done to upgrade it, you may be facing some significant (and expensive repairs). Recommend a home inspection to detect any issues up front. Some possible issues include windows, heating, a/c, electrical, plumbing, etc.
