The worst thing anybody can do in this type of case is to represent themselves because they are working in the best interest of a child. There are various types of child custody from permanent full time physical custody as well as joint custody. Seek legal advice.

There are two types of child custody legal and physical. The legal custodian makes major decision about child's life, such as education, trainings and medical treatment while physical custodian care for the child has day to day basis such as exercise, curfews and discipline.

The court decides what is best for the child visavis shared custody, etc., which is it most likely to grant unless reason is shown why it should not.

The court believes a child has a right to both parents. The law is that the court will determine what is best and the parents must abide by that decision.

Pretty much like other states. The court determines who has custody and who pays support and how much that support will be. I would strongly recommend you avoid representing yourself. Child custody laws are serious business and your inability to act as effective counsel could irreparably harm your child's life.
