The middle child is constantly struggling to find a place for him/herself and to gain an identity and validation despite the parental preference for the "baby" and the overachieving oldest.

Personality is very fluid and depends on many factors. there is no specific prescribed personality for a middle child, however, I know from my personal experience and the experiences of friends that are middle children that they often are "peacekeepers" and "intermediaries" in problems that occur between siblings.
