With any surgery you always run the risk of infection. For that reason a patient is always given antibiotic medication intravenously before and after surgery. If, after being home a while you think you may have an infection you should make an appointment with your surgeon to check it out.

The chances are very low that infection will develop, but not uncommon either. It's one of possible consequences of any surgery. But if you suspect that you have developed an infection, you need to see your doctor ASAP and get it treated before you health is impacted. The longer you wait, the harder to get rid of.

Infection is the most common complication of any surgery. Symptoms are fever, swelling, increased pain, drainage or foul smell. If you have any of these symptoms call your doctor.

Like any other surgery there is always some risk of infection while it is healing. If you are concerned you can call your clinic and see if they can see you about your concern. In a case like this you are better safe than sorry. If it turns out you don't have one at least you won't be concerned anymore.

Infection chances vary but anytime you believe you have an infection you should see your health care provider, infections when not treated can lead to sepsis and death.
