I just made a similar list myself! I would recommend anything by the Beach Boys, and the Music for Cougars album by Sugar Ray. Jack Johnson is beachy music that fits any occasion. Bob Marley and Jason Mraz are a few more of my favorites for summery, laid back music.

You can't go wrong with songs like Summer Breeze by the Isley Brothers, Summertime by the Fresh Prince, Summertime(Porgy and Bess version), Summertime by the Bare Naked Ladies and Summertime by the great Janis Joplin. You might want to also check into purchasing any cd labeled, Summertime Songs or Party Songs.

One of the greatest summer songs is Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). This song is timeless and can still be played almost 20 years later. LL Cool J's "Loungin'" is also a nice summer song, which can be played at any pool party around.

One of the best summer songs i've heard so far is California Gurls by Katy Perry. Other good ones are Paper Planes by M.I.A and Hey Soul Sister by Train.
