What are the basis to Parelli Natural Horsemanship?

I have heard that using the Parelli Natural Horsemanship method to train horses is far better than others.

The Parelli approach is based on "resistance free" training, a collection of ideas and practices developed over time by trainers such as Tom Dorrance and John Lyons. The approach relies on an understanding of basic horse instincts; training with this method succeeds through persuasion rather than force.

The basis is to teach the horse owner to understand the horse's personality, psychology and instinctive reactions. This in turn enables them to become better trainers. With this understanding comes the ability to train without force, form a partnership between horse and rider, creating a bond promoting willingness, harmony and teamwork between horse and rider.

There are many types of natural horsemanship. Just like many types of parenting, it is entire conjecture on "what is best". Parelli deals with identifying a horses's personality type, then applies a set of parameters for training the horse. As well, identifying the relationship with you and the horse, and establishing a path of successful communication.

Parelli Natural Horsemanship focuses on natural communication with your horse, meaning body language. A horse understands body language above all else, so this practice uses what the horse already knows to communicate with it what you want. Example: pressure points on a horses body can tell it which direction you want it to go with a small poke.
