What are the basic grammatical rules?

Some are: You're is you are, your is possessive, the cat's toy means the cat owns the toy, if the cat does not own something it is simply cat.

Grammar can get pretty complicated, but the basic things to remember are to start each sentence with a capital letter and end each sentence with the appropriate end mark.

Remember to spell all words correctly and don't have fragmented or run-on sentences. Capitalize and use words in their tense (past, present, future).
