Novocaine can cause a number of unpleasant after effects, though they are generally uncommon. These can include difficulty breathing or irregular breathing, discoloration and swelling at and around the injection site, back pain, numbness, constipation, shivering, numbness or a tingling sensation. If any of these symptoms last, you should contact a medical professional.

Some novocaines include vasoconstrictors, which may make your heart race. You may have dizziness, blurred vision or tremors, or a feeling like restless leg syndrome. If you have nausea, difficulty breathing, your heart doesn't stop racing in a short length of time, you need to tell a doctor immediately.

Numbness, tenderness sometimes, tingling sensation, a little bit like your leg falling asleep. It does not cause any adverse reactions as far as I know. You may feel a little groggy, disoriented when you first wake up. This is why you have someone else pick you up. Eye sight is going to be different and a little off.
