There are so many fun ways to decorate mantles! It is always good to use items of different heights to create interest. Use candles or topiaries for the tallest items, and then place a swag either laying across the mantle or drapped over the sides. Remember to change the mantle seasonally and it will become a favorite place to decorate.

Simple decor on a mantle can make a strong statement. Think about the proportion - some tall, some short vases or candles grouped together about a fifth of the way from the end can be striking to the eye. Groupings of 3 or five are more effective. Add a mirror or group of mirrors centered or offset add drama.

I like to make the fireplace the center piece and focus of a room. This is especially true if the fireplace is large and bold! Try keeping the amount of things placed on the mantle to a minimum, this will prevent the fireplace from over powering the rest of the room and prevent a cluttered look.
