Felt is very versatile and is very easy to sew. A couple ideas that come to mind are felt food, ornaments, toys (dolls, tool set, cars, etc.), story telling (using a felt story board), tree skirt, book covers, and children's books. Just make sure that you don't try to wash felt--it shrinks something fierce.

When you are crafting with children, one of the best ways to use felt is as a kind of shock absorber for items. It works really great on some homemade coasters as a soft base so the coasters don't scratch a wooden surface.
