If you travel, there are always great local stones that you can get. Very dark purple tanzanite is great and rare in the US because it is not exported but it can be bought if you travel to Tanzania. Other countries have gems they are known for which make even an ordinary gift (like a necklace) very unique.

Even dolls can be ordered that have a gemstone decoration as well as little teddy bears. Online shopping sites offer many items as well.

Tanzanite would be a great gift for someone.They stones right now are relatively inexpensive to diamonds and other stones. There is only 1 tanzanite mine left in the world. It is slowly drying up. Eventually tanzanite will be worth a lot of money due to its rare nature. It is also a pretty colored stone. A lite purple blue color.
