As a person who lives in southern Mi. just south of Detroit, I can tell you what some of the animals are that we have here. First there are brown and sometimes black squirrels, skunks, garter snakes, woodchucks, groundhogs, ground moles, robins, sparrows, black birds, rabbits, ducks, deer, turkeys, possum, chipmunks, fox, coyotes, frogs, toads, and I'm out of words!

The Osprey is a special inhabitant of Southern Michigan that is a thrill to behold. Once decimated by man-made pollution and only observed in the upper peninsula, their population in the South is on the increase and they can be observed fishing along the state's lakes and streams. Ospreys are fascinating because they asphyxiate their prey.

Southern michigan is much like the rest of the midwest. Common animals include racoons, possoms, deer, dogs, cats, horses, cows. Occasionally you will see rarer animals like muskrats, weasels, porupine or badgers.
