Some brands I am familiar with are: Accent, Armstrong, Buffet, Buescher, Keilworth, King, LeBlanc, Martin, Selmer, Yanagisawa, and Yamaha. Some large music stores and online retailers, e. g. , the Woodwind and Brasswind, have their own very good "house" brands. Keilworth, Selmer, Yanagisawa, and Yamaha are the major brands that music stores will refer to as the "big four. "

Yamaha and Selmer are the most popular. Armstrong, Conn and Selman are geared more for beginner to intermediate players. Keilwerth is nice but you'll pay a good bit.

Some of the top brands of saxophones are Selmer, Yamaha, Yanagisawa and Keilwerth. Each have subtle tone differences and various mechanical features. Old Bueschers and Conns which are no longer manufactured, can also be nice instruments.
