I think the best skill to learn is how to bluff and read the other player's signs. Then you can play no matter what hand you're dealt.

If you're new to Poker the very best strategy is to play, watch other players, be patient, and try not to lose too much. Make sure you play only the best hands --> AA, QQ, JJ, TT, AK. It'll be boring but you'll learn while not losing much.

Do not fold until you after you see the river (first 3 cards). If you have a good hand only raise the minimum until the last round to ensure that most people check or call so as to maximize your winnings. Watch facial expressions for bluffs.

If you start with a good hand and if you are usually the kind of person that doesn't bluff, never start a bid but wait for someone else to start.

Do not force the action. If you aren't being dealt good hands do not feel that you must play these hands. Wait to be dealt strong starting hands.
