Find a champion female for him to breed with, so the puppies will be good. Other than that let nature take its course.

You need to breed him to a female with the same breeding lines as he has otherwise they will still have mediocre puppies no matter what his breeding is. You also need to let him decide on the female he likes the best he will know better than any human.
