Make sure you can talk for at least 10 minutes straight about what you are collecting money for. You need to be able to convince people that you are trustworthy, try explaining what the money will be used for. Make sure to introduce yourself and smile!

For example, a "free" car wash for donations will be more effective than simply asking for cash. If the donation is tax deductible, be sure to mention that as well.
