What are some spirilla examples?

Wow tough question. I had to do some research and learned something new today. There is vibrio Danubicus, vibrio Ivanoff and vibrio Massowah. Let's see there is also vibrio Gindha. These are known to cause septocemia (sp? ) and some are the spirilla that caused cholera. Hope these help you.

I can't remember them all from my school days but there is Leptospira and also Treponema Pallidium Syphilis. Another example is Vibrio berolinensis is a spirilla bacteria which gives a reaction to cholera testing but doesn't cause it. For some reason it has some of the same properties.

Some were tested in guinea pigs by increased injections and they actually built an immunity to cholera from the testing.  add a comment

The word spirilla comes form the greek word spirochaete which means "spiral-sheet. One example of spirlla is Treponema which causes syphillis and there is also Borrelia which causes lyme disease. There are quite a few examples which could be researched in a good education science book at the library.
