Never cross the street leisurely as one typically does in the America, but cross quickly. Keep your wallet in your front pockets. You can also keep your hands in your pocket while walking around in a city to further discourage anyone who tries to invade them. Only drink bottled water. Never drink from the tap.

You should avoid traveling at night, but if you really have to go better take a cab or tuk-tuk. Please dress ordinary and in any way don't flash any signs of wealth. Keep all important documents and large sums of money in your hotel safe. Don't resist a mugging you better cooperate to avoid get injured or killed.

When traveling anywhere, you should use common sense. Travel with others and walk in groups. Do not stay out too late. Do not dress too flashy.

Make sure to get the proper vaccinations. Stay in groups and in safe areas. Much of Guatemala is unsafe for outsiders.

The best time to visit Guatemala would be between November to April. Carry light clothes for the summer and a light jacket incase of light showers. Keep away fromlocal bars, Zone 1 in the city. Also keep away from local people who are very helpful, who speak common languages.
